Access Affordable Housing

Reduce the percentage of households spending more than 30% of their income on housing costs.

In Greenville County, roughly 50,000 households pay more than 30% of their income toward housing. This leads to increased evictions and students having to move and change schools during K-12. This also affects people’s ability to afford college or technical school and leads to people not being able to afford housing close to companies that pay a living wage.

We’re working with our community to strengthen pathways that:

  • Advocate for policies, practices, and resources that increase the number of affordable homes available in Greenville.
  • Show people the value of diverse housing options.
  • Increase access to resources for renters and first-time homebuyers.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that prevent eviction.
